YCL Local Event Lead

Young Channel Leaders is a free, member first community for channel professionals under 40. We’re looking for a small number of people to help YCL bring more in-person events to local markets. We’ll begin with a limited pilot and expand based on what works.

What the role is

A Local Event Lead helps plan and host in-person YCL meetups in their area. You bring local knowledge: which venues work, who should be in the room, and how to create a welcoming experience. YCL supports branding, promotion, registration, and coordination so you are not building an event program from scratch.

What you’d do

  • Identify suitable venue options and coordinate the final selection with YCL.

  • Help plan and host an initial pilot event in your market.

  • Welcome attendees and represent YCL in person.

  • Communicate with the YCL team before and after the event.

  • Help YCL understand what the local community wants next.

Local Event Leads should not sign agreements or commit YCL funds without prior approval from the YCL team.

What YCL provides

  • Brand assets, event promotion, and registration support.

  • Coordination with the national YCL community.

  • Guidance on venues, event format, speakers, and sponsors where relevant.

  • A direct line to the YCL team throughout the planning process.

What this role is not

This is an early pilot role, and we want to be transparent about what that means. It is not a board seat and does not currently include compensation, a dedicated event budget, or guaranteed sponsorship support. Local Event Leads are not expected to personally fund YCL events. Expectations may evolve as the program develops, and we’ll work through those changes with the people we select.

Who we’re looking for

Engaged YCL members or connected channel professionals who understand their local market, are comfortable bringing people together, and are motivated by building community. Prior professional event-planning experience is helpful but not required.

Interest is welcome from any market, but this first pilot will include only a limited number of Local Event Leads. After reviewing applications, the YCL team will contact selected candidates for a short conversation about their market, availability, and potential first event.
